Story

In the streets of a small town, Kami is running away from a huge and menacing gangster. In her attempt to escape from the clutches of this man, she runs into Yin, a mysterious samurai who proceeds to defend her from the man. She threatens the man with her sword and the man defensively lets her know that Kami has stolen from him. Yin, angry at Kami now, makes her give back the money she has stolen. The man leaves, and as Yin starts to leave too she notices that Kami is following her. After much struggle, she finally manages to make Kami leave. As Kami leaves, Yin is attacked by surprise by the gangster, after he had realized that the money inside his money bag had been replaced by metal pieces. Yin is unable to fight back, but Kami hurries back to her aid and manages to distract the gangster with her clumsy attacks long enough for Yin to make an escape and defeat him. Thankful for saving her, Yin decides to teach Kami how to wield a sword.

Backstory

Yin

Yin grew up in a small plantation village and although she never had the chance to meet her parents, she was lucky to have one of the best samurai in the country take her under his wing. As she grew, she was able to learn and master the art of swordsmanship alongside her master, and her respect towards him grew exponentially over the years.

To her disappointment, she later finds out that her master is a dangerous criminal who seeks to gain control of the country. However, she knows her skill alone will not be enough to defeat her wise and powerful master. For this reason, she sets on a journey to find a legendary magical katana that will grant the user the power of the heroes that have held it in the past.

Kami

Kami is the only daughter of the richest family in town. She is an overconfident, energetic girl that enjoys passing the time reading tales of adventures from her parents’ library. These tales inspired in her a passion for adventure, and so she ran away from home to seek adventures outside of her palace. Although she is quite new to this new world, she manages to quickly conquer it.

 She has a dark side to her that is hidden behind her sweet smile. Kami’s bratty nature never fails to get her into all sorts of trouble. In order to make it by herself in the streets, she lies and steals from others, and it is through an act of mischief that she meets Yin, in who she sees the perfect opportunity to have the adventure she has always wanted.

Tollbooth Scenario:

As Kami and Yin arrive at the toll booth, Yin is feeling relieved that she won’t be listening to Kami’s pointless conversations for much longer. They finally stop and Yin searches through her pockets for change to pay the toll, however she finds that the money has gone missing. At first she is puzzled by the disappearance of the money but, after a moment of realization, she turns to look at Kami, who simply grins back. Yin looks at her suspiciously, but realizes that if Kami has gotten her hands on the money, there was no way of getting it back from her. While Yin thinks about what to do next, Kami pressures her into coming up with a solution for their problem. Soon after, more cars start lining up behind Yin. The sound of Kami’s ranting and the cars’ incessant honking eventually become too overwhelming and she yells at Kami, demanding her to shut up. Kami looks back at her with a daring look, and proceeds to get off the car. Yin looks at her puzzled and notices that Kami is leaving her behind. Kami looks back, grins, and waves goodbye to Yin. Yin lets out a sigh of frustration, rolls her eyes, and puts her head on the wheel, and comes to the realization that she’d rather not deal with what she considers a petty problem and decides to turn back and wait for Kami’s return, but not before apologizing to everyone waiting for her to pay at the tollbooth.
